Black & White Cameras and Monitors are rare these days. We can still find them, but who would want them when the latest Color Cameras give better performance for the same price or less? Sequential Switchers have been replaced by multiplexers that let you view all your cameras at the same time. Multiplexers also let you rapidly feed images to and from a recorder without the long intervals that switchers caused. You can even keep recording all your cameras while you're watching live views of selected locations. But the #1, really big change, is the demise of the video tape recorder. You can throw away the tapes and let a new digital recorder do a better job... economically and more reliably than ever. These new recorders use the same type of hard disk drives as computers use, and they let you store weeks or even months of high quality video from multiple cameras without any user attention.
